The shop
JL is my father. Half of Kendall still calls us that.
My dad, José Lima, ran an appliance bench out of the garage in Westchester for twenty-two years. People brought him dryer motors and control boards and he fixed them on a folding table under a shop light. I grew up handing him nut drivers. When I filed the company in Florida in 2019, the plain version of the name was already taken in the state records, so the paperwork came back as GROUP JL LLC and I left it alone — changing a filing costs more time and money than it is worth when the bank account, the invoices and the lettering on the van already say JL.
The address on that filing, 8306 Mills Drive #452, Miami, FL 33183, is a real unit and it is where the bench, the parts wall and the paperwork live. It is not a storefront. Nobody walks in to look at appliances, because we do not sell appliances. Almost all of the work happens at your address, in your kitchen, with the machine still plugged into your wall.
About the name of this website, since it explains nothing on its own: pescol is not a word. It came off a list of short names that were still available. Pes is from my mother's maiden name, Pesqueira; col is from what everybody called my father, Colo. Every sensible combination of “appliance” and “repair” and “Miami” with a .com behind it was taken or parked for four figures. The .shop ending was what was available and cheap that afternoon, and it happens to be literally true — this is a repair shop. There is no cart on this site, no checkout, and no price you can pay from your phone. You call, we come out, you pay the technician at the kitchen counter once the machine runs.
GROUP JL LLC is a limited liability company registered with the Florida Division of Corporations under SunBiz Document # L19000218769, active since 2019. That filing is public and anyone can look it up on SunBiz and match it against the name, the address and the phone number printed at the bottom of every page here.
Two things we do not do, and I would rather say them out loud than have somebody find out the hard way. We do not open sealed refrigeration systems — compressor and refrigerant work goes to a licensed HVAC contractor and I tell you that on the phone before we drive out. And we do not hand your job to anybody else. Every call is booked by us, worked by our own two technicians, invoiced by the LLC and paid to the LLC. We are not a directory, not a franchise, not a referral service, and your phone number never goes to another shop for a cut.
